Data to Circularity: How AI Can Optimise Plastic Recycling

The KISS project combines material analysis, digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve recycling decisions – using agricultural plastic streams as valuable examples.
The transition towards a circular economy for plastics requires more than collecting used materials: it is essential to understand plastics’ composition, quality and future application potential. Different polymers, processing histories and contamination levels determine which recycling pathway is technically and economically viable. As recycled content becomes increasingly important across Europe, reliable material data is becoming just as valuable as the material itself.
The KISS project (“AI-based qualification, steering and optimisation of material flows to close regional resource cycles”) addresses this challenge. Led by RIGK GmbH and funded by Technologieland Hessen, the project aims to create a digital basis for better recycling and sourcing decisions – helping recyclers, converters and manufacturers use secondary raw materials more efficiently and confidently.
There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn't anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.
