Greek agriculture is changing to improve the management of its used agricultural plastics. Aware of its weaknesses, it has set itself a detailed action programme with precise deadlines for 2030.

Today, in Greece, it is widely known that the problem of plastic pollution in agriculture is linked not only to the large quantities of plastics that are used but also to certain management practices like landfill and burning. In Greece, the necessary key steps towards a reduced plastic footprint in agriculture involve monitoring the quantities of agricultural plastics produced and used, proper management of agricultural plastic waste and also raising awareness on the negative effects of plastics in agriculture.

A work plan for 2030

Greece acknowledges the deficiencies of the existing waste management system and takes action in order to harmonise national policy with the environmental policy of the European Union through the implementation of the National Waste Management Plan 2020–2030. The Plan presents the evolution of the production of agricultural and livestock waste until 2030 following the pace of the changes in the rate of the country’s real GDP. As shown in the table below, plant protection product containers and the rest of agricultural plastics are forecast to increase in the coming years.

Table : Evolution of production of agro-livestock waste until 2030 according to the National Waste Management Plan, 2020–2030

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn't anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.
