Expectations regarding the end-of-life of agricultural plastics : the viewpoint of European farmers

AUTHOR : Rodolphe Seyrig, Plasticulture Magazine
The entire agricultural plastics value chain took part in APE Europe’s annual seminar on European collection schemes, including Pekka Pesonen, Director General of Copa-Cogeca. The Editorial Team looks back at Mr Pesonen’s speech.
The undeniable benefits of collection schemes
As we have seen throughout this magazine and in the articles that follow, environmental concerns are growing throughout the agricultural plastics chain, and particularly regarding their end of life management. With this in mind, as Mr Pesonen pointed out, “national collection systems are key”. He pointed out that “they are very active in a large number of Member States, but we need to go further”.
Further… but what are the expectations of farmers? His speech was clear on the end-of-life of agricultural plastics: “We need the involvement of all the players in the value chain in Europe to make this a success”, and he went on to say that “it is important to have shared governance between farmers, distributors and processors (…) This should also be done within the framework of extended producer responsibility”, and therefore directly involve the manufacturers and marketers of the products.
There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn't anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.
