Recycling agricultural plastics has a 20-year long history in Sweden and the adventure continues. A new Swedish facility is taking on one of agricultural plastics\u2019 most difficult recycling challenges: agricultural non-woven crop cover.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Sweden has spent more than two decades developing a national collection system for agricultural plastics. The system has shown that industry responsibility, long-term cooperation and clear logistics can turn used farm plastics into a valuable resource. Yet one material has remained especially difficult to bring into a circular flow: agricultural non-woven crop cover. Lightweight, bulky and often contaminated with soil and organic matter, it challenges every stage of collection, transport, cleaning and recycling.<\/span><\/p>\n

From intuition to realisation: making recycling happen<\/b><\/p>\n

A new Swedish facility is now taking on that challenge. At Stigamo, outside J\u00f6nk\u00f6ping, a recycling plant has been built to create a viable route for this demanding material. The investment is about SEK 200 million (about 18 M\u20ac), including land, buildings and advanced processing equipment. Its purpose is to demonstrate that a material lacking a clear end-of-life solution can become part of a functioning industrial cycle.<\/span><\/p>\n
