The recycling of agricultural plastics requires the involvement of all players in the chain. AREA and its 18 member cooperatives are setting an example by committing to the \u2018100% APE\u2019 initiative and rolling out a local collection service. Here we share the testimony of its Managing Director.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Working to make farmers more competitive<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Our primary role, as a union of cooperatives, is to ensure the listing and purchase of agricultural supplies for the benefit of our members. As such, we negotiate the purchase of agricultural plastics from French and international suppliers. The ultimate goal of our work is to defend the interests of farmers by improving their competitiveness and income.<\/p>\n

We therefore strive to guarantee the best conditions for the products we source, right through to the end of their life cycle. We are therefore concerned about the steady rise in the cost of recycling agricultural plastics, but we are also very interested in the challenges and organisation of the sector in France, particularly when we see the lack of progress in this area in neighbouring European countries.<\/p>\n
