Agronomic evaluation of biodegradable mulches for melon production
AUTHOR : Jean-Michel LHOTE, Experimentation manager, ACPELÂ
In melon cultivation, the use of soil mulch is imperative. While the use of biodegradable mulch offers clear advantages in terms of end-of-life management, growers need answers to their technical questions. This is the aim of the SOPAM project1, in which the ACPEL2 has carried out agronomic evaluation trials of biodegradable films on melons in the Centre-West of France. FAQ on the trials by Jean-Michel LHOTE.
What are the difficulties involved in film laying and planting?Â
Jean-Michel Lhote : The biodegradable films were installed without any particular difficulty. It appears that with precise adjustment (centring, tension, etc.) and careful preparation of the soil, it can be done without extra time. However, the staff on the planter sometimes reported greater difficulty in positioning the plants on certain softer mulches.
There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn't anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.
